We built SchoolBridge to make it easy for parents, students, and teachers to share information, with the goal of facilitating educational excellence. We understand you may not want everyone in the world to have the information you share on SchoolBridge, which is why we instituted tight security features. Our default privacy settings limit the information displayed in your profile to your networks and other reasonable community limitations.
SchoolBridge follows two core principles:
1. You should have control over your personal information.
SchoolBridge helps you share information with your friends and others. You choose what information you put in your profile, including contact and personal information, pictures, interests and group memberships. You can control the users with whom you share information with through the privacy settings on the My Account page.
Due to the nature of an educational based online platform most of the users are below the age of 18, therefore a number of the generally accepted social networking aspects are unavailable. We deploy a hierarchical system of membership signup that begins at the school wide level. School principals designate an administrator with whom SchoolBridge employees create the user templates for the teachers at that specific school. The teachers of that specific school create the user templates of the students and parents/guardians of their students in their specific classes. This system limits membership in SchoolBridge to currently enrolled students and their parents/guardians, thereby diminishing potential threats from online predators.
2. You should have access to the information others want to share.
There is an increasing amount of information available out there, and you may want to know what relates to you, your friends, and people around you. We want to help you easily get this information.
Sharing information should be easy and we want to provide you with the privacy tools necessary to control how and with whom you share that information.
